My Role as a Civil Servant in the Ministry of Education of the Distrito Federal

I am a teacher at public schools in the Distrito Federal, Brazi. I have taught middle schoolers in one of the poorest favelas in Brazil, and illiterate adults who dreamed of finishing elementary education so they could have some dignity for themselves in a favela close to where I live. On November 2018 I had the invitation to assist the Minister of Education as a Special Advisor. When the COVID-19 crisis broke out I was nominated Coordinator of the COVID-19 response program. I had to coordinate the efforts of 7 under-ministries to flip the system from the old in-person classes to online in less than a month. Soon after the process was settled I was nominated undersecretary of Innovation and was responsible for implementing the platform Google Classroom for our 460.000 students and 20.000 teachers and for the development of an app that permitted students to access Google Classroom with reverse internet (when they access is paid by the Ministry of Education, not by the students or teachers). I have represented the ministry of education in all the CONSED ( Council of the ministers of education) meetings concerning the implementation of the "Novo Ensino Médio" in Brazil.
